Educational Resources

Scholarship Information:

The scholarship program through the chapters will remain the same in 2007-2008. In November you should be receiving paper applications to use as you select the two applicants selected by your chapter for consideration. The applications and supporting information for students you select should be sent to International by March 1st.
New this year! While there are no changes in the process for chapters to send nominees to the International scholarship committee, PDK will no longer accept “at-large” applications for scholarships/fellowships. Direct applicants must now have some connection to PDK.
Students who wish to apply directly will be eligible for consideration for PDK scholarships/fellowships if they meet any of the following qualifications:
  • Is a Kappan in good standing
  • Is a “Kappan Kid” whose parent or grandparent is a Kappan in good standing
  • Is a member of a PDK sponsored FEA chapter
  • Has at least one recommendation letter written by a Kappan in good standing.

Also new this year! Applications for students who wish to apply directly for these scholarships will be on-line on the PDK website after October 1.

PDK /Gallup Poll Resources We are excited to announce the release of the 39th Annual PDK/Gallup Poll of the Public’s Attitudes Toward the Public Schools. For the complete results of this year’s poll, a video summary of the poll findings, and a number of other poll resources, go to www.pdkintl.org.

For almost four decades, this public opinion poll has helped shape policy initiatives and strategies for improving public schools, and we expect this year’s poll to have an even greater impact on the debates over NCLB, national standards, and global education.

Join the online discussion on the implications of the PDK/Gallup Poll
As always, we encourage you to think about how the poll results can affect the schools in your community and our nation’s education policies, but this year we also have created an online space where you can share your reactions to the poll and learn what your colleagues are thinking. Join the discussion at http://forums.pdkintl.org/. The PDK/Gallup Poll Forum is open to the publicanyone visiting the forum can view the discussion on the poll findings and can post comments after completing the easy and free registration.

We look forward to the discussion!
