Hello Phi Delta Kappa member, possible future member, new initiate, and honoree,

Dr. Sandee Crowthers, PDK International President will lead the facilitation of Daniel Pink’s latest book (December, 2009) “Drive: The Surprising Truth About What Motivates Us (Students, Teachers, Administrators, and the Greater Educational Community). Dr. Crowther is also past president of the National Staff Development Council, the largest professional group for staff developers and taught at the Univ. of Kansas and the Lawrence, KS Public School District.

She will provide a national perspective on the application of Pink’s beliefs, discuss PDK research trends, and discuss how NE schools can utilize these elements to enhance “autonomy, mastery, and purpose.” This will scaffold Dr. Baker's presentation at our 4.21, co-sponsored activity with Norris.

Do you agree with Pink’s premise that…”I actually start with a different assumption: that the vast majority of teachers (and administrators) want to do great work, that they entered the (education) profession in order to make a difference in the world, and if you simply give them the tools and get out of their way, the vast majority of them are going to do extraordinary things?”
